Speaker convenes all-party meeting, asks legislators to focus on public issues
Jammu, Feb 27: Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather Thursday convened an all-party meeting ahead of UT government's maiden budget session, commencing from March 03, 2025.
During the meeting, the Speaker as per sources, urged all the leaders of political parties to raise issues of public concern to live upto expectations of their electorate.
"The House belongs to you. You are representing people. Raise any issue yet in a disciplined manner while following all rules," Rather said.
Responding to BJP MLA and the Leader of Opposition, Sunil Sharma's contention that any business serving "anti-national or unconstitutional agenda" should not be allowed, the Speaker said, "The House will strictly run as per the rules of business."
Earlier prior to meeting also, Sharma, while speaking to media persons, had reiterated his party's stance that no "anti-national or unconstitutional bill, question or resolution would be allowed to be tabled in the House by BJP."
The meeting was attended by Mubrak Gul of National Conference, G A Mir of Congress, Sunil Sharma and S S Slathia of BJP, Waleed Para of PDP, M Y Tarigami of CPI-M and independent MLA Muzaffar Iqbal.
