Srinagar, April 08: The Legislative Assembly on Tuesday witnessed pandemonium with clashes between National Conference and Kashmir-based opposition parties over the Waqf Bill.

While the National Conference MLAs were seeking discussion on adjournment motion brought by them on Waqf Bill, the Kashmir-based opposition parties were seeking resolution against the bill.

As soon as proceedings of the House began, National Conference MLAs stood up demanding that their adjournment motion should be allowed.

PDP MLA Waheed- Ur Rehman Parra stormed into well of the House and demanded that the resolution brought by them should be passed.

As Parra was pressing for passage of the resolution, NC’s Abul Majid Larmi accused him of being RSS agent, triggering verbal duel between NC and Kashmir-based opposition legislators.

As Para tried to advance towards the podium, the Speaker ordered the Marshals to evict him.

As he was being marshalled out, PC president Sajad Lone tried to rescue him but he was taken out.

Amid commotion in the House, NC MLAs and Sajad Lone engaged in verbal duel.

“You are doing theatrics. It is irony that NC legislators are protesting against NC’s Speaker to befool people,” Lone said.

Amid continued protests, the Speakers said that J&K Legislative Assembly cannot undo what the Parliament has done.

“You cannot undo what Parliament has done,” he said, adding that there is no question of discussion over the House.

Amid continued protests, the Speaker adjourned the House for 30 minutes. (KNO)
