Sopore, Oct 08: In a continued offensive against elements associated with banned organisations, Sopore Police on Wednesday carried out a search operation at the residence of Syed Yousuf Shah, son of Syed Najaf Shah, a resident of Hygam Sopore, in connection with an ongoing investigation under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act UAPA. The operation was conducted as part of the probe into FIR No. 33/2025, pertaining to activities linked with the proscribed outfit Jammu & Kashmir Itihad-ul-Muslimeen (JKIM).

Police officials confirmed that the search was carried out following proper legal authorization from the competent court. During the raid, the police team recovered incriminating material, including literature and photographs related to the banned organisation JKIM, which have been seized for detailed examination and further investigation.

Official said that the operation is a part of the ongoing efforts to curb the influence and network of outlawed groups attempting to disturb the peace and security of the region. “The Sopore Police remains committed to dismantling the terror–separatist ecosystem and ensuring that those involved in promoting extremist ideologies or providing any form of support to banned organisations are brought to justice,” the officer stated.

The search operation was conducted peacefully, and police assured that investigations are progressing in a lawful and transparent manner. Authorities reiterated that firm action will continue against individuals or entities found involved in unlawful or anti-national activities, reaffirming their dedication to maintaining peace, stability, and public safety in Sopore and adjoining areas.
