Sopore Police attach properties of notorious drug peddler
Sopore, Dec 27: Sopore police on Friday attached property of a notorious drug peddler worth lakhs.
As per the official handout, the action was taken to combat the menace of drug trafficking and to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society.
“Sopore Police attached a two storey residential house valued at approximately Rs 17,00,000 located at Adipora Sopore, under the NDPS Act 1985,” the handout reads.
The attached property, two storey residential house belongs to one notorious drug peddler namely Ishrat Ahmad Mir from Adipora Sopore. “The said property was acquired by the subject from the proceeds of narcotics. The inquiry revealed that the said immovable property was raised/ used for Illicit Trafficking by the drug peddler,” it reads.
The handout reads that Sopore Police have dealt a severe blow to their criminal activities by targeting and freezing the illegal assets of drug peddlers and smugglers involved in the organized illegal narco trade.
“Depriving these criminals of the proceeds derived from drug trafficking is an essential step in curbing their influence and crippling the drug trade in the valley,” the handout reads.
