Sonamarg to host 10th National Snowshoe Championship–2026

Srinagar, Feb 10: The unveiling ceremony of the 10th National Snowshoe Championship–2026 was held at the TRC Meeting Hall, Srinagar, on Tuesday. The championship, as per a statement issued, is being organised by the Jammu & Kashmir Snowshoe Association in collaboration with the Directorate of Tourism, Kashmir, under the auspices of the Snowshoe Federation of India.

Director Tourism Kashmir, Syed Sajad Qamar, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasised the immense potential of winter sports in Kashmir and reiterated the department’s commitment to promoting Sonamarg as a major winter sports hub.

The National Snowshoe Championship–2026 is scheduled to be held at Sonamarg, Kashmir, from February 13 to 16, with the inauguration ceremony on February 14 and the closing ceremony on February 15.

The primary objective of the championship is to promote Sonamarg as the next premier winter sports destination in the country and to encourage youth participation in snow sports.
