Soldier killed in road blasting incident in Kupwara

Srinagar, Dec 16: An Army soldier was killed after sustaining critical injuries during a road blasting operation in the Keran sector of Kupwara district in north Kashmir on Tuesday, officials said.

The incident occurred on Monday at Putaha Khan Gali in the Jamgund area of the Keran sector.

Havildar Zubair Ahmad of the 13 Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAKLI) was critically injured while he and his team were carrying out road blasting work for the construction of an approach road to a nearby Army post.

Following the incident, the injured soldier was immediately evacuated to the Army medical facility at Drugmulla for emergency treatment.

However, despite sustained medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.
