Soldier injured after terrorists attack army picket in J&K’s Rajouri
Srinagar, July 22: A soldier was reportedly injured after terrorists opened fire on a newly established army picket in the Gundha area of Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, even as a defence spokesman said that a major terror attacked was thwarted.
Quoting an official, news agency Kashmir Scroll reported that terrorists opened fire on the camp of 63 RR in Gundha.
He said the soldiers retaliated, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire, in which one soldier was injured.
The official said that reinforcements were rushed to the site of the attack and a search operation is underway to track down the terrorists.
Meanwhile, Jammu-based defence spokesman said that a major terror attack was thwarted by the soldiers.
“Major terror attack on Army picket in remote village of Rajouri thwarted. Firing [is] underway. More details [are] awaited,” he said, in a brief statement to the media.
