Soldier dies in Surankote explosion

Rajouri, Sep 29: An army soldier, posted in the Rashtriya Rifles battalion, lost his life in a suspected grenade explosion on Monday evening.

Officials said that the explosion took place at a sentry post of the Army camp in the Surankote area of Poonch district in the Pir Panjal region.

In this explosion, an Army soldier, identified as Sepoy Bhavesh, sustained fatal injuries. Officials said that soon after the explosion, senior officers of both the Army and the Police rushed to the site.

Necessary investigation and legal proceedings were underway, and the area was also cordoned off for searches. The authorities were probing whether the explosion was a terror-related action or an accidental grenade explosion, officials said.
