Soldier dies, 9 injured in Anantnag accident

Anantnag, May 4: An Army soldier died while nine others suffered injuries when a vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident in the Verinag area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday.

An official said that a  vehicle ferrying soldiers of 19 Rashtriya Rifles from Batagund Verinag to Watnard Kokernag veered off the road and crashed into a deep gorge, resulting in the injuries of 10 persons.

“They were rushed to hospital where one of them succumbed to injuries,” the official said.

The official identified the dead soldier as Gurpreet Singh.
