Snow, Sport & Speed: Khelo India Winter Games 2nd leg kicks off today
Gulmarg, Mar 8: With fresh snowfall adding to its charm, Gulmarg is all set to host the second leg of the Khelo India Winter Games from today, March 9, 2025, turning the iconic ski destination into a hub of high-octane winter sports action.
As per an official press release, over 300 athletes will battle it out in Alpine skiing, Ski Mountaineering, Snowboarding, and Nordic skiing. The Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council ensures seamless preparations for the prestigious event.
Khelo India Winter Games 2025 are scheduled to take place at Gulmarg from March 9th to 12th, 2025.
The event promises a blend of adrenaline-pumping competition amid breathtaking landscapes, making Gulmarg the perfect winter sports arena.
In a fitting prelude to the main event, Khelo India and the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council also organised an all-women ski run event on Saturday to commemorate International Women’s Day.
Women skiers from across the country participated in the run, celebrating empowerment and excellence in winter sports on Gulmarg’s dazzling slopes.
Meanwhile, athletes who have already arrived in Gulmarg conducted practice sessions on the powdery slopes of Kangdoori and Gulmarg.
Many also took a mesmerising ride on the Gulmarg Gondola, one of the world’s highest cable cars, witnessing breathtaking panoramic views of the snow-laden mountain peaks.
To ensure a smooth experience for participants and visitors alike, the Traffic Police have meticulously planned traffic management to prevent congestion on the roads leading to Gulmarg.
Special arrangements have been put in place to facilitate easy movement, ensuring that athletes and spectators can reach the venue without hassle.
As Gulmarg stands ready to host the high-profile event, the combination of world-class sporting action, scenic splendour, and impeccable arrangements promises to make this edition of the Khelo India Winter Games a resounding success.
