Snow cleared but slippery conditions halt Mughal Road restoration
Rajouri, Jan 8: The restoration of the Mughal Road is again getting delayed despite the completion of snow from both sides of the Pir Ki Gali.
Officials said that the Mechanical Engineering Department has successfully completed the snow clearance work on the Mughal Road from both the Poonch and Shopian sides.
However, the road remains closed due to severe slippery conditions.
Talking to Greater Kashmir, Sub District Magistrate, Surankote, Farooq Khan Nazki said, “We have completed snow clearance work on the road from both sides. However, despite snow clearance, the road cannot be restored for traffic as of now due to the hazardous conditions.”
He said that the road is extremely slippery and not safe for vehicular movement.
“We are hoping that the conditions will improve in a day or two and we can restore the road,” Nazki said.
“The Mechanical Engineering Department and the Poonch district administration are closely monitoring the situation, and efforts are being made to ensure the road is safe for travel as soon as possible,” he said.
