Snow-clearance work started on Zojila Pass
Ganderbal, Nov 12: The snow clearance work was started on the Zojila Pass along the Srinagar-Leh National Highway which was closed for traffic following snowfall on late Monday evening.
The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) started the snow clearance work on the Zojila Pass along the Srinagar-Leh National Highway on Tuesday after the area witnessed the season’s first snowfall on Monday evening.
An official said that the machinery was pressed into action for snow clearance on the Zojilla Pass, which experienced about 3 to 4 inches of snow.
He said that once the road is cleared of snow, traffic movement will be restored on the highway from the Kargil side.
The authorities have urged the drivers to take precautions while travelling on the road.
Meanwhile, Sonamarg tourist destination in Ganderbal district also received a spell of light snowfall which draped the picturesque tourist resort in a white blanket besides a dip in the temperature.
The Drass area of Kargil also received snowfall of about 3 inches.
