Snow Action Returns: Gulmarg set for winter sports extravaganza

Srinagar, Jan 4: The Winter Games Association of Jammu & Kashmir (WGAJK) has announced the commencement of winter sports competitions at the world famous ski destination—Gulmarg, from mid-January 2025.

However, according to a press statement issued by the WGAJK, these events are contingent on favourable snow conditions and will include district, Union Territory, and national-level competitions.

“Winter Games Association of Jammu & Kashmir (WGAJK) is all set to organize winter sports activities/competitions of district, UT, and National levels at Gulmarg, from mid January 2025 provided the snow conditions are conducive for such competitions,” reads the statement.

Athletes participating in alpine skiing and snowboarding are advised to remain prepared for short-notice invitations. The competitions will feature male and female categories across various age groups, including seniors, juniors, C1, C2, J1, and 12. The statement further reads that the association aims to identify and shortlist top-performing athletes during these events for higher-level competitions.

As per the release, specific dates and a detailed program will be released through print, electronic, and social media platforms at an appropriate time.
