Baramulla, Dec 20: The department of Forest and Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday seized illicit timber in the Boniyar forests of the Baramulla district.
An official said that based on specific information about the timber smuggling in the area, a team of forest officials and the cops of Jammu and Kashmir police rushed to Compartment no 62 and seized 237 feet of timber from the spot.

He said following the raid, four smugglers escaped from the spot and police have launched a manhunt to arrest the fleeing timber smugglers.
In connection with the incident, an FIR vide no 66 of 2024 has been registered at police station Boniyar and further investigation has been initiated.
