SMC organises blood donation camp
Srinagar, Nov 7: Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Faz Lul Haseeb, on Friday, inaugurated a blood donation camp organised at the SMC Headquarters, Karan Nagar, Srinagar, in collaboration with the Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar.
A statement of SMC issued here said that the camp was held under the supervision of Health Officer SMC, Fauzia Habib.
The initiative aimed to promote voluntary blood donation, raise awareness about the importance of donating blood, and support healthcare institutions in saving lives.
A large number of SMC officials, employees, and members of the public participated in the camp, contributing generously to this noble cause.
Joint Commissioner SMC Suhail-ul-Islam; PPO, SMC, Mustafa Haroon; ASP, SMC, Abdul Rashid Thoker, and PRO, SMC Idrees Aqail, also attended the initiative.
A team of doctors and paramedical staff from GMC Srinagar conducted proper medical screening of donors, ensured their safety, and facilitated the smooth and secure collection of blood.
SMC ensured all necessary arrangements, including medical assistance, refreshments, and certificates of appreciation for the donors.
Commissioner SMC appreciated the efforts of the SMC and GMC Srinagar for successfully organising the camp.
The Commissioner said that such initiatives foster a culture of compassion and civic responsibility, reflecting the corporation’s commitment to public welfare beyond its routine civic duties.
He also thanked all voluntary donors for their participation.
GIS Expert SMC, Altaf Hussain Mir, was the first participant in the drive, setting an inspiring example for others.
R J Sameen also joined as a volunteer, spreading the message of blood donation and motivating citizens.
