SMC commemorates Independence Day

Srinagar, Aug 15: The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) celebrated the 78th Independence Day today with fervour and enthusiasm at its Headquarters in Karan Nagar.

Commissioner, Dr Owais Ahmed hoisted the National Flag in a solemn ceremony attended by senior officers and officials of the Corporation, who gathered to honor the sacrifices of the brave martyrs of India's freedom struggle.

In his address, Dr Owais paid tribute to those who fought valiantly for India's independence, underscoring the significance of Independence Day as a reminder of the core values that define the nation—equality, freedom, liberty, justice, and human dignity.

Dr Owais reaffirmed his commitment to serve the nation and its citizens with integrity and dedication.

This year’s observance of Independence Day not only commemorated the past but also reinforced the collective responsibility towards building a better future for the nation.
