Slippery conditions force closure of Srinagar-Leh NH

Ganderbal, Jan 2: The Srinagar-Leh highway was on Thursday temporarily closed for vehicular movement due to slippery road conditions after fresh snowfall at Zojila Pass, officials said.

An official said that the road had been closed keeping in view the slippery conditions due to light snowfall overnight.

He said that the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) pressed its machinery for road clearance.

The official said that after an improvement in weather and road conditions, the movement of traffic would be restored on the highway.

The traffic authorities have urged drivers to use anti-skid chains in their vehicles and follow traffic advisories while travelling on the highway.
