SKUAST-K to organise seed sale mela on Mar 4

Srinagar, Feb 24: The 9th Technology Exhibition-cum-Seed Sale Mela is going to be held at the Shalimar Campus of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) from March 4 to 5.

A statement said that the mela is being organised under the theme "From Green & White Revolution to Blue Revolution. Cold Water Fisheries: A Game Changer in J&K" to demonstrate the latest agriculture technologies, products and planting material seeds/breeds varieties as well as developments in the agriculture with emphasis on fisheries sector accomplished by the University.

The mela is expected to be attended by about more than 2 lakh people during two days from all walks of life. Some of the major highlights of the event include a technology demonstration, showcasing SKUAST-K innovations and startups, next-gen farming solutions, an expo of champion commercial farmers, an agri-industrial expo, farmers-scientists interface, awareness about centrally-sponsored schemes, exhibition of ethnic and cultural diversity, participation of NGOs, SHGs, FPOs enterprises, sale of quality seed/planting material, agri-products and technological intervention in the fisheries sector by the varsity.

The Mela is scheduled to be inaugurated by Parshottam Rupala, Union Cabinet Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Government of India and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha.
