SKUAST-K students embark on 21-day learning journey

Srinagar, Jan 20: Undergraduate students of the Faculty of Horticulture Batch-2020 at SKUAST-K have set off on a 21-day All India Educational Tour (AIT) cum Industrial Externship, embarking on a unique learning journey through esteemed educational institutes and industry leaders in the field.

This exciting programme, sponsored by IDP-NAHEP, promises to equip students with cutting-edge knowledge and practical skills in the ever-evolving world of horticulture. The itinerary includes visits to renowned institutions like the Precision Farming Development Centre at IARI, New Delhi, Tanflower Private Limited and PPK Agro Food Industries in Bangalore, and Bench Mark Tea Industry in Ooty, Tamil Nadu.

This tour is not just about visiting places, shared Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai, Vice Chancellor of SKUAST-K, it is a carefully curated immersion into the diverse facets of the horticulture industry.

By interacting with experts and witnessing real-world applications, our students will gain invaluable insights into advanced technologies like Green House Farming, Hydroponics, Aeroponics, and even modern marketing practices in Cold Storage and Wholesale Fruit Distribution.

Prof Shabir Ahmad Wani, Dean of the Faculty of Horticulture at SKUAST-K, echoed the sentiment, highlighting the importance of skill-based training in today's competitive agri-business landscape.
