SKUAST-K hosts workshop on ‘Starting and Scaling a Silk Farming Business’
Srinagar, Nov 12: The Division of Cocoon Crop Production at the College of Temperate Sericulture, SKUAST-K, organised a one-week Entrepreneurship and Skill Development Training Programme on “Sericulture Entrepreneurship: Starting and Scaling a Silk Farming Business.”
The programme, sponsored by the Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India, was inaugurated on November 11 at Diwar, Pattan, Baramulla.
Thirty participants have registered for the program, which aims to enhance the skills and knowledge of attendees regarding entrepreneurship opportunities in the sericulture industry. Dr Nisar Ahmad Ganie, Professor and Head (Coordinator), inaugurated the event and emphasized the importance of active participation and maximizing the benefits of the training sessions.
“In the backdrop of emerging challenges to the silk industry, such programs are of great significance,” Dr Ganie highlighted during his inaugural address.
Dr Syed Farhat Iqbal Qadri, Assistant Professor, elaborated on the aims and objectives of the program, while Dr Masarat Bashir, Assistant Professor, gave a brief presentation on the avenues and opportunities available in silk farming.
