SKUAST-K hosts awareness programme on judicious pesticide use under HADP
Srinagar, Oct 29: The Division of Plant Pathology, Faculty of Horticulture at SKUAST-Kashmir, conducted a one-day mass awareness cum farmer-scientist interaction programme on the judicious use of pesticides under the HADP-18 project "Minimisation of Pesticide Use in Agriculture" at KVK, Srinagar.
The programme aimed to educate growers on reducing unnecessary pesticide applications and to train them in effective disease and pest management practices.
Scientists from various departments at SKUAST-K delivered lectures and guided techniques to minimize pesticide use in orchards, focusing on effective control measures for common diseases and pests. Approximately 100 farmers from Srinagar, including areas such as Rambirgarh, HMT, Panziwara, Qamarwari, Harwan, and Brein, participated in the program and raised various queries.
The programme was attended by various personnel, including Dr Shamim Ahmad Simnani (Professor & Head, KVK Srinagar), Dr Tariq Rasool Rather, Dr Mohammad Najeeb Mughal, Dr Mudasir Gani Bhat, Dr Rayees Ahmad Wani along with other experts from KVK Srinagar and the Departments of Horticulture and Agriculture.
