SKUAST-K holds training on application of molecular techniques in livestock
Srinagar, Dec 8: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir organised a three-day hands-on training program on ‘Applications of Advanced Molecular Techniques in Improvement of Livestock Wealth”.
A statement said that the training was conducted by SKUAST-K’s Division of Animal Genetics and Breeding, Faculty of Veterinary, Shuhama under the sponsorship of the World Bank-ICAR-funded National Agricultural Higher Education Project (NAHEP).
More than thirty participants from different degree colleges of the Kashmir division participated in the training programme. The participants were sensitised about the importance of animals in the present world and the contribution of animal husbandry, veterinarians, veterinary scientists and researchers working in different institutes. Resource persons from the faculty and outside research institutes shared their knowledge and expertise with the participants.
The participants were trained about basic molecular genetic techniques being used in animal genetics and breeding and animal biotechnology in various research and teaching projects of the institute.
Speaking at the valedictory function, Dean, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences, Prof MT Banday, highlighted the importance of such training programs and praised the organisers especially the Head, Division of Animal Genetics & Breeding, Prof Syed Shanaz for organising such an informative training programme. The program was concluded with the distribution of certificates among the participants & the resource persons.
