Srinagar, Nov 24: Division of Veterinary Microbiology & Immunology, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry Shuhama, under the aegis of ICAR-Indian Network for Fishery and Animal Antimicrobial Resistance (INFAAR), organised an AMR (Anti-Microbial Resistance) Dialogue and Panel Discussion today on Monday at Vice Chancellor’s Conference Hall, SKUAST -Kashmr Shalimar.

Prof Nazir Ahmad Ganai Vice Chancellor SKUAST-Kashmir and Dr M Ashraf Ganai, Director SKIMS, Soura were the key guests in inagural session of daylong event held with various stakeholders from medical, veterinary, environmental, agricultural and other industrial sectors as participants. Both the key speakers in inagural session threw light on importance of the AMR in current times and need for collaboration among different stakeholders to combat thebmenace.

The highlight of the event well drafted panel discussion on the theme “One Health, One future: Combating AMR together” post an expert interesting talk by Dr Neelam Taneja Professor and Head of the Department of Medical Microbiology at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), on the topic. The session focused on current trends, global frameworks, and regional perspectives on AMR mitigation, fostering cross-sectoral collaboration under the One Health approach. Earlier Prof. M. Altaf Bhat, Director Education, SKUAST Kashmir formally welcomed the guests while Prof M I Hussain, Head Division of Veterinary Microbiology & Immunology, FVSc & AH, gave a vote of thanks.

It is pertinent to mention that Antimicrobial Resistance awareness week was celebrated with different events like Debate, Essay, Quiz, Painting, poster competition and Farmers & School Outreach Programs on AMR. A documentary in this regard was also displayed at the inaugural session while various felicitations of students and others concerned in successful conduct of the program was held at the end of the event
