SKUAST-K holds 3 entrepreneurship programmes at Women’s Polytechnic
Srinagar, Nov 23: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir conducted three Entrepreneurship Awareness Programmes (EAP) on sustainable agro-ecosystem practices, quality management and digital marketing at Govt Polytechnic College for Women, Bemina here.
A statement said that the entrepreneurship programmes were organised by the SKUAST-K’s School of Agricultural Economics and Horti-Business Management, Faculty of Horticulture under the Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises. Govt of India.
The EAPs were titled, ‘Sustainable Agro-Ecosystem Management Practices’, ‘Quality Management Perspectives for Entrepreneurship Development’ and ‘Digital Marketing Workshop for Entrepreneurs.
Principal, of Govt Polytechnic College for Women, Mohd Shafi Bhat, in his address, said such programs will benefit the students and particularly, the technical institutes where they have a sole mandate of developing skill sets and inculcating the entrepreneurship mindset among the youth.
Dr Farhet A Shaheen, Coordinator of MSME awareness programs from SKUAST-K in his inaugural address gave an overview of these programs to the participating students and faculty of the college with a focus on how they can develop their own enterprises across different sectors and particularly agriculture. Dr Shaheen elaborated on the technological advancement in different spheres and how it has opened new areas and avenues for business. He briefed them about different programs and schemes for venturing across different enterprises and stressed to the students for taking benefit of these ongoing incentives for entrepreneurship development.
The resource persons for these EAPs were drawn from various other institutes, besides SKUAST-K and the host institute. They imparted lectures on various themes ranging from mushroom production technology, food processing with focus on fruit and vegetables, value addition of mushrooms, waste management in fruits and vegetables, preservation techniques, Quality management in food industry, application of Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI & ML) in Food Industry, hospitality management in hotel industry, besides digital marketing and branding in agriculture products.
Participating students in their feedback on the concluding ceremony were very enthusiastic in developing their own enterprises, particularly, mushroom production units and were interested in further advanced trainings for the same. Dr. Anjum Reyaz Shah, Co-coordinator from the host institute thanked SKUAST-K for organising the Entrepreneurship Awareness Programmes in their institute and desired for future collaborations and customised trainings from the SKUAST-K to the students of Govt
Polytechnic for Women.
