SKUAST-K distributes multi-nutrient blocks to dairy farmers
Srinagar, Oct 4: The Division of Animal Nutrition, Faculty of Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry (FVSc & AH), SKUAST-Kashmir organised its fourth Multi-nutrient Block (MNB) distribution programme for dairy farmers in Srinagar.
The initiative falls under a NABARD-sponsored research project aimed at enhancing dairy farmers' livelihoods through productivity improvement.
The project, titled "Enhancing livelihood of dairy farmers in Srinagar through productivity augmentation by standardization and popularization of multi-nutrient block supplements for animal feeding," has been actively promoting awareness about animal feed supplements among local dairy farmers.
At the event, sixty dairy farmers from the district received free Multi-nutrient blocks prepared by the Animal Nutrition Division. Prof. Shayaib A. Kamil, Dean of FVSc & AH, Shuhama, SKUAST-Kashmir, presided over the function as Chief Guest, while Purnima Kakru, District Development Manager, NABARD, attended as Guest of Honor.
Dr Yasir Afzal Beigh, Principal Investigator of the project, presented a comprehensive overview of the research activities conducted thus far. The participating farmers provided positive feedback on the initiative's first three phases, highlighting the project's successful implementation.
Speaking at the event, Kakru commended the Division's proactive approach in addressing farmers' concerns and supporting agricultural development in the region. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks.
