SKUAST-K conducts Pre-SAC meeting of KVKs of Kashmir, Ladakh
Srinagar, Apr 11: The Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-Kashmir, successfully organised three-day Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meetings from April 9 to 11.
The meetings were chaired by Director Extension/SAMETI, Prof Raihana H Kanth. Pre-SAC meetings are significant as they form the basis for finalising Annual Action Plans of Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) through ratification by concerned Scientific Advisory Committee meetings.
Prof Raihana Habib Kanth emphasised the importance of Pre-SAC meetings and offered suggestions for improving planning and efficient implementation of On-farm testing of technologies and Front/farmer demonstrations at ground level. She also emphasised collaborations between extension functionaries from line departments and KVKs that play a significant role in obtaining feedback on technologies developed and demonstrated by the university through KVKs.
These Pre-SAC meetings were attended by Heads of various Divisions/KVKs, University Scientists, subject matter specialists from Krishi Vigyan Kendras, and scientists from the Directorate. The proposed Annual Action Plans of SKUAST-K’s KVKs were discussed thoroughly.
Today’s Pre-SAC meeting aimed to unify On-Farm Trials (OFTs) and Front Line Demonstrations (FLDs) across all KVKs to popularise and validate technologies at different locations within the districts. The proposed Annual Action Plans were discussed beforehand with district-level officials by concerned KVK scientists before being presented at the Pre-SAC meeting.
The event was coordinated at the Directorate level by Scientists of the KVK Coordination Cell (Prof Lyaqet Ali and Dr Mohammad Iqbal Bhat).
