Srinagar, Nov 3: The Division of Veterinary Clinical Complex at SKUAST-K organised two Entrepreneurship Awareness Programmes (EAP) focused on farm animal fertility management and sustainable dairy practices. The MSME-sponsored programs were held on October 23 and 25, at Haji Bagh, Budgam and Dignibal, Ganderbal districts respectively.

Around 85 participants, including unemployed youth and progressive dairy farmers from various categories, attended the programmes coordinated by Dr. Gh Rasool Bhat, Assistant Professor cum Junior Scientist from the Division of Veterinary Clinical Complex.

Prof (Dr) Amatul Muhee, Head of Division, who was the chief guest, emphasized the importance of scientific livestock rearing practices for sustainable income generation and employment opportunities. She urged participants to expand their livestock operations using modern methods for profitable dairy farming.

Dr Bhat highlighted common reproductive problems in livestock and their impact on dairy farmers' income. Associate Professors Dr. Farooz Ahmad Lone and Dr. Asloob Ahmad Malik from the Division of Animal Reproduction Gynaecology and Obstetrics detailed scientific methods of estrus detection and optimal timing for artificial insemination in dairy cows.

Dr Khursheed Ahmad Sofi, Assistant Professor cum Junior Scientist, discussed strategies for managing infertility and obstetrical issues in dairy cattle. Representatives from the Animal Husbandry Department - Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, Technical Officer to Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Budgam, and Dr Gousia Nazir, Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, Gulab Bagh, Srinagar - outlined current departmental schemes available for dairy farmers.
