Srinagar, Dec 11: In continuation of its efforts to foster entrepreneurship and skill development among regional youth, the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Srinagar launched a 15-day Entrepreneurship Skill Development Programme (ESDP) on "Agripreneurship in Horticulture" at the Directorate of Extension, SKUAST-K.

The programme targeted undergraduate final-year students from the B.Ed College of Education, M.A. Road, with the aim of providing participants with cutting-edge technical knowledge and hands-on technological interventions in horticulture and allied sectors.

The inaugural session took place in the Conference Hall of the Directorate of Extension, chaired by Prof. Azmat Alam Khan, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the Vice Chancellor. Distinguished attendees included Dr Purshotam and Dr Liyaqut from the Directorate of Extension, Dr. Mansoor, Undergraduate Coordinator from the College of Education, and scientists from KVK Srinagar.

Dr SA Simnani, Professor and Head of KVK Srinagar, emphasized the centre's commitment to strengthening connections with Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs), Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), and Self-Help Groups (SHGs). He highlighted the institution's focus on engaging with higher educational institutions to inspire innovation and entrepreneurship among young minds.

In his inaugural address, Prof. Azmat Alam Khan celebrated the university's achievements under the visionary leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Nazir A. Ganai. He particularly noted the transformative impact on the university's research, academic, and extension landscape. Prof. Khan also advised program organizers to expose trainees to state-of-the-art infrastructure and showcase innovations and startups at the SKIIE Centre in the Main Campus, Shalimar.

Dr Uzma Bashir delivered the welcome address, and Dr Aasima Rafiq proposed the vote of thanks.
