Srinagar Sep11: The Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) on Wednesday said that its Department of General Surgery has secured permission to start an accredited DNB fellowship of two-years duration in Colorectal Surgery.

HOD General & Minimal Invasive Surgery Prof. Ajaz Ahmad Malik thanked Director SKIMS Prof. M. Ashraf Ganie & Dean Medical Faculty SKIMS Prof. Shariq R. Masoodi for their support & guidance.

It is a proud moment for this prestigious institution & the Department of General and Minimal Invasive Surgery for achieving this major academic milestone, said Malik.

He also thanked and appreciated contributions & dedication by the colorectal unit including Prof. Fazal Qadir Parray and Prof. Rauf Ahmad Wani.

Director SKIMS Prof. M. Ashraf Ganie congratulated the Department and all its consultants for the academic excellence. He said it is a big achievement as the accredited fellowship is the first of its kind to be started in the country, read an official handout.

He further said that the introduction of new highly specialised clinical courses will give a major boost to the academic activities further enhancing the standard of teaching/ academic practices at SKIMS.
