SIU Baramulla produces chargesheet against 6 in narco-terror case
Srinagar, Feb 5: The State Investigation Unit (SIU) Baramulla produced a chargesheet against six accused in the narco-terror case on Monday.
A statement of SIU issued here said that the chargesheet was produced in a case FIR No 104/2023 under Section 7/25 of the IA Act, 120-B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and 13, 18, 18 B, 20, 23, and 40 of the UAP Act of Police Station Uri before the Court of Additional Sessions Judge (NIA Court) Baramulla.
The charge sheet was produced against six accused persons Muhammad Aslam Khatana, son of Atta Muhammad of Churunda, Uri; Muneer Ahmad Din Masi, son of Muhammad Din of Jabla Uri; Bilal Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohuiddin Dar of Hard Shiva Sopore; Akhtar Niyaz Bhat, son of Niyaz Ahmad of Mukhdam Mohalla Tarzoo, Sopore and Mudasir Yousuf Goknu, son of Muhammad Yousuf of Bagi Islam Krankshivan Colony, Sopore, all under judicial custody.
One more accused Muhammad Hassan Awan, son of Raj Muhammad Awan of Dharkoot Uri at present Tehsil Bagh PoK has also been named in the chargesheet under Section 299 CrPC.
The next date of hearing of the case has been fixed for February 20, 2024, as announced by the court.
On August 11, 2023, arms, ammunition, and narcotics were recovered from the five accused persons at a checkpoint established at Powarian Thajal, Uri.
They were found to be involved in cross-border smuggling of arms and ammunition at the behest of Pakistan-based terror handlers and its further distribution to Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorists for carrying out terror activities.
