Siberian chill sweeps Ladakh
Kargil, Jan 9: Ladakh continues to witness cold wave conditions with freezing temperatures.
The Zojila Pass, which connects Kashmir to Ladakh, remained the coldest location in the region with temperatures plunging well below freezing and recording minus 31 degrees Celsius, independent weather forecaster Faizan Arif said.
As per the Meteorological Department, in Ladakh, Drass experienced a chilling temperature of minus 24.8 degrees Celsius.
Leh recorded minus 13.3 degrees Celsius while Kargil saw temperatures dip to minus 14.6 degrees Celsius.
The ongoing cold wave has significantly impacted the daily life in the region.
The Meteorological Department has forecast dry weather in Ladakh till January 20 except for the possibility of light snow in the Zojila area on January 11 to 12.
