SIA seizes electronic gadgets from house of JKAP Constable

Jammu, Jan: State Investigation Agency (SIA) from Jammu has seized some electronic gadgets from the house of a narcotics syndicate Selection grade police constable of J&K Police in Belicharana area.

Searches were conducted on January 2 on the directions of the Court of 3rd Additional Judge Jammu in connection with a case registered at police station Gandhi Nagar last year.

As per SIA spokesperson, police last year had arrested a former Jammu and Kashmir minister Jitendra Singh alias Babu Singh in the Jammu region for an alleged Hawala money case where accused Babu Singh received terror funds from Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist organization.

“Search was conducted regarding the case involving Babu Singh and in this regard, a formal FIR vide number 73/2022 under sections 13, 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 38, 39, 40 UAP 120B, 121 was registered at Police Station Gandhi Nagar Jammu,” the spokesperson said.

Upon investigation it was revealed that there was a well-organised drug syndicates including accused Mohd Sharief Chechi, Farooq Ahmad Jungal, an ex-sarpanch of Nambla -C constituency Uri, Baramulla and selection grade constable of J&K police Saif DIn posted in IRP 4th Bn, the spokesperson said.

“Sharief Chechi was arrested in the instant case in August 2023 while Farooq Ahmad Jungal and Saif Din were arrested in December 2023. Twelve accused have already been charge-sheeted in the instant case among which nine are lodged at Central jail while three are absconding and operating from Pakistan. During investigation of the narco syndicate involved in the generation of the terror fund, the role of Farooq Jungal and Saif Din had come to light,” the spokesperson said.
