Shops, multi storey building gutted in Gundoh fire

Ramban, Nov 16: In a fire incident at least four shops and several rooms of a multi storey residential building were destroyed at Batyass area of Gundoh of Doda district last night.

Official sources said the fire broke out in a multistory building of Lateif Bania comprising four shops and residential house in Batyass market area of Gundoh and engulfed the entire building.

They said on getting information police , fire tenders of fire and emergency services stationed in Gundoh reached the spot and extinguished the fire with the help of locals. They prevented the fire spreading to adjoining buildings. They said one building was completely destroyed in this fire incident.

Officials said the house and shops belong to Abdul Lateif son of Kareemu Basksh, Mohammad Asgar son of Bashir Ahmed, Mohammad Yaqoob son of Gulam Mustfa Wani, and Bashrat Hussain son of Mohammad Iqbal.

Locals alleged that fire tenders from fire Station Gundoh which is around six kms away from Bypass arrived late due to which buildings and shops were destroyed.

SHO Police Station Gundoh Inspector Parvaiz Khanday confirmed the incident and said no loss of life or injury to any person was reported in this fire incident however he said building and suffered extensive damages.
