Shopian Police solve theft case within 24 hours; two accused arrested

Shopian, Oct 21: Shopian Police solved a theft case within twenty-four hours of its reporting, arrested two persons involved in the crime, and recovered the stolen property from their possession, officials said on Tuesday.

In a statement, a police spokesperson said, "A case FIR No. 31/2025 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Imam Sahab on the written complaint of Shri Nazir Ahmad Ganai, resident of DK Pora, stating that during the intervening night, some unknown thieves had stolen several apple crates from his premises."

He added that acting promptly on the complaint, a special team was constituted. Through meticulous investigation and technical analysis, the team succeeded in identifying and apprehending two accused persons involved in the theft namely Mohd Altaf Bakshi, son of Mohd Afzal Bakshi, resident of Rambirpora, Kehribal Mattan, Anantnag and Adil Gulzar Ganie, son of Gulzar Ahmad Ganie, resident of Chee, Anantnag.

The spokesperson further said that during the course of investigation, the stolen apple crates along with the auto load carrier used in the commission of the crime were recovered from their possession.
