Shooting stones disrupt traffic on Srinagar-Jammu NH

Ramban, Dec 13: The vehicular traffic on both sides of the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway was disrupted after intervals due to shooting stones on the Mehar Cafeteria stretch of the highway on Wednesday.

Officials said that due to intermittent shooting stones from hillocks on the Mehar Cafeteria stretch of the highway near Ramban, traffic was disrupted after intervals in the morning and afternoon.

The traffic authorities issued an advisory Wednesday afternoon advising people and vehicle operators to drive cautiously on the Mehar Cafeteria Morh stretch of Ramban as intermittent shooting stones were rolling down from a hillock on this stretch.

Traffic officials monitoring the regulation of traffic at Mehar Cafeteria Morh said that vehicles were being cleared on a one-way basis with caution on this stretch.

They said that despite intermittent shooting stones the highway remained open and hundreds of vehicles crossed this stretch till late Wednesday evening.

Intermittent shooting stones from a hillock on the Mehar Cafeteria Morh stretch of Ramban have been hampering the smooth flow of traffic for the past three days.

Till late evening, the highway remained open and vehicles were heading towards their respective destinations although at a slow pace between the Nashri and Banihal sections of the highway.
