Shooting of Mouj Kashir music video begins in Srinagar

Srinagar, Jul 20: Award winning filmmaker and director from Kashmir, Danish Renzu Shah is travelling through Srinagar currently, traversing the depths of mother-son bond through a music video.

The shooting of the music video started on Sunday in Nowhatta and will continue on Monday at different spots in Srinagar. The shooting is being done under local music label Renzu Music. The male lead role of the music video is played by Udit Arora from Mumbai while the female lead role is performed by Kashmiri artist Shaheen Mahajan.

The music video is about the story of a Kashmiri boy who returns to Kashmir after a decade. His mother has already passed away and he compares the love of a mother with Valley and believes that Kashmir Valley is synonymous to mother's love.The costumes, make-up and styling is being done by Makeovers by Zoha, Raj Bagh.

Danish Renzu Shah who has won several national and international awards in film making, said the motive behind shooting the music video is to do a lot of music with local musicians in the Valley. "We are trying to create different music videos and also create a bridge between Kashmir and Mumbai and the mainstream Kashmiri music," Danish Renzu said.

"This is our goal here with our music label, We have done around 50 music videos in the last four years and mostly the work is music videos with Sarigama, Zee, Sony, everybody we have worked with," he said. He said after doing different music videos, they have opened their own music label Renzu Music because the goal was to work with local musicians in Kashmir.

"I have also done a lot of feature films. There are films like Half-Widow and The Illegal which are already released. My new film is coming out next month, which is also set in Kashmir," he said. He said that Kashmir has always been sort of the centre of work they have been doing.

"Most of the stuff that is coming out on Kashmir, if you see all the movies that come out, they show Kashmir is in a very bad light. There is always antagonist or showcasing Kashmir in extremely negative light, which has really affected Kashmiris overall," he said.

He said the goal is to highlight success stories from the valley and empower the artists from Kashmir. "We are really fed up with the same stories, terrorists and antagonists and showing Kashmir in a very bad light. The goal of our music label is to change that," he said. Danish Renzu said the latest video Mouj Kashir was a special one which is a patriotic song from Kashmir.

"It talks about a mother and son relationship. And mother represents Kashmir as some sort of motive in the video," he said. Renowned filmmaker and director of global repute, Shah is recipient of around a dozen awards. His film titled "The Illegal" has been nominated for Oscar Race in 2021. The film casts Suraj Sharma, a high profile Hollywood actor of Life of Pie as main star. Danish has received the best director award at Austin film festival in 2021 and he was also awarded at Mumbai International film festival as well in 2019.

Danish is recipient of New Jersy international film festival award where he was rewarded for his best feature film in 2018. He has also received an award as best Director at Dada Sahib Phalke Film Festival Award Best Director in 2018.
