‘Sher-e-Kashmir Zindabad’

Srinagar, Oct 21: MLA Zadibal Tanvir Sadiq took the oath of office and secrecy in Kashmiri language in the Legislative Assembly today.

Tanvir ended his oath with the slogan “Sher-e-Kashmir Zindabad” (Long live the Lion of Kashmir) praising the National Conference founder Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah. The slogan evoked applause and claps by several legislators.

“I will work for the welfare of people. National Conference is committed to resolving all issues confronting people and work for their betterment,” Sadiq told reporters after the oath-taking ceremony.

Tanvir is the chief spokesperson of the NC and one of the closest lieutenants of party vice president and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. He delivered a thumping victory in the Zadibal constituency, marking a turning point in Srinagar’s political landscape.

Tanvir secured the highest victory margin across all eight constituencies in Srinagar, winning by a whopping 16,173 votes. With 22,189 votes in his corner, he left his nearest rival, former MLA Abid Ansari of the People’s Conference, trailing far behind with 6,016 votes.
