Sher-e-Kashmir freed us from tyranny: Advisor Nasir Aslam Wani
Srinagar, Dec 05: Advisor to the chief minister J&K, Nasir Aslam Wani, on Thursday highlighted the significant contributions of Sher-e-Kashmir in liberating the people of Jammu and Kashmir from oppressive rule and setting the foundation for progress and development.
Speaking at a commemorative event, Wani stated, "It is our collective responsibility to remember those who shaped our history and gave us the strength to speak and achieve milestones. Sher-e-Kashmir’s efforts stand out, as he played a pivotal role in granting us freedom and dignity."
He further noted the challenges faced by the region during the era of autocracy, describing it as a time marked by widespread hardship and tyranny. "Sheikh Kashmir’s leadership helped us break free from that oppression. His contributions will remain an integral part of our history," he said.
The Advisor prayed for Sher-e-Kashmir, saying, "May Allah grant him a place in Jannah and elevate his status further."
During the event, Wani also mentioned the reinstatement of a canceled ceremony and assured that efforts are being made to organize grander celebrations in the future. "By the next significant milestone, we aim to ensure full-fledged observance of these important traditions," he added.
“The Council of Ministers has formally submitted a proposal to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to reinstate December 5 as a public holiday in commemoration of the late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah’s anniversary,” Wani said and hoped that the holiday will be restored in time for next year.
He said we are optimistic that the people of Jammu and Kashmir will once again observe this significant day with full dignity and honour.
