Shawl sellers attacked: Er Nazir speaks to Himachal Police official, seeks action
Srinagar, Feb 3: Activist and political leader Er Nazir Yatoo has taken up the issue of attacks on Kashmiri shawl sellers in Himachal Pradesh with Kulbhushan Verma (HPS), Superintendent of Police, Kangra District, Himachal Pradesh.
Yatoo in particular raised the incident in which a Kashmiri shawl vendor from Kupwara was threatened by a miscreant in Kangra, said a press release.
SP Kulbushan Verma assured Er Nazir Yatoo that the Himachal Pradesh Police has taken strong cognizance of the matter and that strict legal action will be initiated against the accused. He stated unequivocally that such acts will not be tolerated, and the case is being examined with utmost seriousness, it added.
The SP further conveyed a clear message to the Kashmiri shawl vendor, saying that the Himachal Pradesh Police stands firmly for his protection and that there is no reason to fear. He emphasized that the safety of traders and visitors from all parts of the country is a priority for the police.
