Sharp Sight launches Myopia clinic for children
Srinagar, Aug 16: Sharp Sight Eye Hospital, Srinagar, has launched Kashmir’s first dedicated Myopia Clinic for children, aimed at early diagnosis and management of childhood myopia, as per a press statement issued by the hospital.
To mark the launch, the hospital hosted a Myopia Awareness Programme that saw the participation of over 100 children along with their parents. The event featured free eye check-ups, consultations, and interactive sessions to raise awareness about preventive eye care.
Dr. Sumera Majeed Zargar, Cataract and Pediatric Ophthalmologist at Sharp Sight Eye Hospital, led the awareness session. She stressed the importance of timely eye examinations, early detection, and lifestyle adjustments in slowing the progression of myopia.
“Early diagnosis and timely intervention can make all the difference. Our goal is to equip parents with the knowledge and tools to safeguard their child’s vision,” Dr. Sumera said.
The event also featured a magic show and drawing competition to keep children engaged while learning about eye health.
The Myopia Clinic, according to the hospital, will provide specialised services including myopia control glasses, lifestyle counselling, and expert consultations tailored for children.
Hospital officials said the initiative reflects Sharp Sight’s mission to provide advanced and affordable pediatric eye care in Kashmir, combining medical expertise with community outreach to promote long-term vision health.
