Srinagar, Jan 16: Cyber Police Kashmir today warned social media users to stop sharing hateful content immediately on social media platforms which aims to fuel sectarian unrest in valley. The police maintained that sharing such content is punishable offence under law, and whosoever would be found involved will be roped under legal action.

“We have observed that certain hateful sectarian content, originally posted and later removed, has been downloaded/ saved by malicious individuals who are now circulating it widely on social media. This behavior is under close watch,” Cyber Police Kashmir in its official X-handle said.

They said that several offenders in this connection have already been summoned and strict legal action is being taken against them.

“Several offenders have already been summoned to the @cyberpolicekmr, and strict legal action is being taken. We urge everyone who has downloaded or shared this harmful content to stop immediately,” the post on X added.

“We caution all users: Sharing hateful content is a punishable offense. Legal action will be enforced against violators. WE ARE WATCHING,” Cyber Police Kashmir said on X.

The police on Wednesday said it have arrested six miscreants for inciting sectarian unrest through derogatory remarks, who have been lodged at Central Jail Srinagar.
