“They (NC members) are playing deceptive politics to befool the people. The Speaker has given his ruling as per the rules. If they don’t have faith in him, they should move “no confidence motion” against him (Speaker) and elect a new Speaker,” Sham Sharma said, both in and outside the House.

Sajad Lone too had dared the NC on similar lines in the House. He, in fact, along with two PDP MLAs - Fayaz Ahmad Mir and Rafiq Ahmad Naik submitted a “No Confidence Motion” against the Speaker to the Legislative Assembly (LA) Secretary. It was submitted under Rule 215 (A) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the J&K Legislative Assembly, seeking “removal of the Speaker.”

“This decision stems from widespread outrage within the House over the Speaker’s actions, including the rejection of discussions on an adjournment motion and the refusal to entertain a resolution brought forward by opposition parties. Such conduct undermines the democratic principles and procedures governing the esteemed institution, prompting this resolution to address the matter,” the motion submitted by the trio to the LA Secretary read.

Lone, speaking to the media outside the House, reiterated it, stating that the Speaker was the only “impediment in the way of discussion in the House.”
