Shakeel Bakshi arrested in old case

Srinagar, Dec 8: Police on Monday detained Shakeel Bakshi in connection with a 29-year-old case registered at Police Station Shergari, officials said.

Bakshi, from Bemina, was taken into custody from the Lower Court area in Bemina.

His arrest is linked to FIR No 192 of 1996, filed on July 17 that year, involving charges under Sections 307, 341, 148, 336, and 332 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC), as well as Sections 7/25 of the Arms Act and Section 13 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.

According to Police officials, the action is part of the ongoing efforts to locate and arrest individuals wanted in long-pending criminal cases.
