Shahpur villagers hold protest against Jal Shakti Deptt

Rajouri, Feb 27: Inhabitants of Shahpur village of Budhal area in Rajouri held protest against Jal Shakti Department calling for close supervision of work done under Jal Jeevan Mission.

The villagers from Shahpur village of Rajouri Districts' Block Budhal New expressed their anger against the Jal Shakti department and said that crores of rupees are being spent by the central government on connecting every house with tap water but masses of Panchayat Shahpur are not getting any benefit from it.

The local people said that a water tank was built in 1982 but, unfortunately, it could not be repaired till now nor a new has been built under Jal Jeevan Mission.

Locals further said that they informed the engineers of the concerned department several times but they did not listen to anything and the government money is being misused whereas people getting dirty water.

The Assistant Executive Engineer of Jal Shakti Department on being contacted told that he has recently taken charge and will look at the DPR and will also visit the area to discuss the matter.
