“All Bazar Committees of Shaher-e-Khaas including Bohri Kadal, Zaina Kadal and other areas collectively requested the Labour Commissioner, J&K to designate Sunday as the official 'Close Day' and grant us permission to operate our shops on Fridays. As this is a trade hub, Fridays attract customers from distant areas who come for Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid and Shah Hamdan (RA) Shrine, and also dedicate time for shopping,” the traders said in a statement.

“Considering this, we request authorities that the markets in Old City be allowed to remain open on Fridays,” it added.
