Shaher-e-Khaas traders demand parking facilities

Srinagar, Nov 25: Traders of Shaher-e-Khaas have urged the authorities to provide parking facilities in the Old City.

“We are facing immense problems in the absence of parking facilities in Shaher-e-Khaas. In the absence of parking facilities, customers avoid making purchases in Downtown and we have been incurring huge losses,” said Nazir Ahmad Shah, chairman of Shaher-e-Khaas Traders Alliance.

He said historic areas like Zaina Kadal, Maharaj Gunj, Nowhatta, Aali Kadal, Bohri-Kadal, Rajouri Kadal, and Gojwara are without dedicated parking facilities. “Shaher-e-Khaas is thronged by customers and tourists. It is a matter of concern that Downtown is without basic facilities, especially parking. We are ready to help the authorities in identification of spots in Downtown which can be converted into parking zones,” Shah said.

Meanwhile, Shah hailed the drive launched by Traffic Police against erring drivers and underage driving. “We hail the drive launched by SSP Traffic Srinagar, Muzaffar Ahmad Sha,h and extend cooperation to in the initiative to strict adherence of traffic rules and safety of commuters,” Shah added.
