Ramban, Nov 27: The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway witnessed smooth vehicular movement as it remained open for two-way traffic of Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) and heavy vehicles on Monday.

The traffic authorities said, “The traffic movement was smooth yet slow due to the breakdown of four heavy vehicles, single road stretches at Dalwass, Mehar-Cafeteria, Magarkote and Nachlana, and at other places due to poor road surface condition between Nashri and Banihal tunnels.”

The officials monitoring the regulation of traffic in Ramban said, “Hundreds of LMVs and heavy vehicles crossed the Nashri and Banihal tunnels till late Monday evening without any disruption.”
“The highway is open and vehicles are heading towards their respective destinations in Kashmir and Jammu in a regulated manner,” they said.

Meanwhile, the J&K Traffic Department issued a fresh advisory for Tuesday stating that subject to fair weather and road clearance, LMVs and heavy vehicles would be allowed to ply on both sides of the highway.

“However, passenger vehicle operators are advised to prefer journeys on the highway only during the daytime. The commuters are also advised to undertake journeys on the highway only after confirming the status of the road from Traffic Control Units Jammu, Srinagar, Udhampur, and Ramban as the Meteorological Department has predicted rain,” the advisory said.
