Sgr-Jmu NH reopens after repair work
Ramban, June 14 : The Srinagar -Jammu National Highway re-opened for two-way traffic of light medium passenger vehicles and one-way traffic of heavy vehicles on Friday morning.
Traffic authorities said National Highway after remaining closed on Thursday night for scheduled road repair works was reopened for two-way traffic of light medium passenger vehicles and one-way traffic of heavy vehicles on Friday morning.
The stranded vehicles were cleared on priority, and after that scheduled traffic was resumed on the National Highway.
They said heavy vehicles released from Qazigund, Kashmir are heading towards Jammu in a regulated manner.
Traffic officials in Ramban said, National Highway remained open however they said traffic movement remained slow due to the breakdown of a few heavy vehicles, on-foot movement of nomad families with their livestock, 90-degree curves at Tunnel Tunnel T5, Panthyal and due to single-lane road stretches at Dalwass, Mehar, Cafeteria, Panthyal, Magarkote, Shalgari, Gangroo, Nachlana besides poor road surface conditions at many places between Nashri and Banihal.
Earlier on Thursday night National Highway remained closed due to road repair works.
Meanwhile, traffic authorities said subject to fair weather and good road conditions light-medium vehicles would be allowed to ply on either side whereas heavy vehicles would be allowed to ply towards Kashmir from Udhampur after assessing the road and traffic situation on NH-44, on Saturday.
