Ramban, Sep 15: The Srinagar-Jammu National Highway remained open for two - way traffic of light medium and heavy vehicles on Sunday.

However, traffic authorities said traffic movement remains slow at various places between Nashri and Banihal sector of National Highway.

Meanwhile, in a fresh advisory issued by traffic police department Jammu and Kashmir stating that no heavy motor vehicles (HMV), and load carrier would be allowed after 5 am Monday morning till 5 pm Monday afternoon from Qazigund Kashmir through Banihal-Qazigund (Navyug tunnel) towards Jammu and from Jakheni (Udhampur) towards Srinagar on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, (NH-44).

They advised load carrier operators carrying fresh perishable/livestock to load their vehicles accordingly. They said heavy vehicles would be allowed to move on either side after Monday 5 pm.

However, a senior traffic Police officer informed that subject to fair weather and good road conditions National Highway 44 would remain open for two – way traffic of private cars and light medium passenger vehicles on Sunday.

Sources informed heavy vehicular traffic on both sides of Srinagar Jammu National Highway between Udhampur and Qaziqund would remain suspended during the day on Monday due to security reasons as Union Home Minister, going to address an election rally in support of BJP candidate in highway town Ramban.
