Ramban, May 24: Despite light rain most vulnerable and landslide prone areas between Nashri and Banihal remained open for scheduled two-way traffic of light medium vehicles and one way traffic of heavy vehicles for Srinagar on Saturday.
But traffic movement remained slow due to ongoing four-lane construction work, single lane road stretches at several places between Nashri and Banihal on Saturday.
Traffic authorities monitoring the regulation in Ramban said that due light rain between Nashri and Banihal hundreds of light, medium and heavy vehicles plied towards their respective destinations.
They said light medium and heavy motor vehicles released from JakhaniUdhampur are crossing the Nashri-Banihal stretch of the National Highway towards Kashmir and Jammu respectively. A traffic police official at Traffic Control Unit Ramban informed that subject to fair weather and better road conditions passenger light motor vehicles would be allowed to ply on both sides and heavy vehicles would be allowed to ply towards Jammu.
However, officials advised the people to confirm the status of the road before undertaking journeys from traffic control units Jammu Srinagar, Udhampur and Ramban on Sunday morning.
They further advised passengers and LMVs operators to undertake journeys on the Srinagar Jammu National Highway, during the day time due to apprehension of shooting stones between the Ramban and Banihal sectors.
